Announcement re Dr Chawla
It is with great sorrow we are letting everyone know of the sad news of the unexpected death of Dr Chawla's baby. We offer our condolences and support to Dr Chawla and her family at this difficult time. It may be some time before she returns to the Surgery but many of us at the Practice are in regular contact with Dr Chawla and can pass on any cards and wishes people may want to send .
Finally as a Practice we request that when Dr Chawla does return people do not enquire about the situation which is a deeply personal matter that is difficult to discuss. Thank you for your understanding.
Covid support service Tel 0300 200 1008 or https://tinyurl.com/ycjqvf7z for help with picking up prescriptions, shopping etc.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak we will be pre-screening all appointments over the telephone and no prebooked appointments will be available until further notice. If you come to the surgery to make an appointment you will required to go home and ring the surgery.
This will be effective from the Thursday 12th March for all GP appointments. Patients will initially be assessed via a telephone call and if the GP advises then the patient may attend the surgery. Please do not attend the appointment until advised to do so by a GP.
Practice nurse appts for immunisations, smears, dressing, blood sample etc will remain as current and can be pre booked.
We will also have a member of staff on hand in our waiting room checking if arriving patients have any Corona Virus symptoms.
Online and automated telephone appointments are no longer available.
This step has been taken on recommendation of the NHS in order to protect both patients and staff.
This is a national issue and we have to comply. We apologise for any inconvenience
Corona Virus Sicknotes - These are issued by NHS 111 and not your GP.

There are plans to build approx 900 new homes in Ashford with 2500 new residents moving to the town. Spelthorne College site is to opening this Spring housing up to 1000 new residents. How are GP surgeries going to cope with the increasing demand?
We new extra clinic rooms and facilities otherwise we cannot recruit staff to meet the demand and appointment waiting times are going to increase and services suffer.
Lend your support and email/write to Kwasi - see template letter as an example: TEMPLATE LETTER

Thank you for helping to protect NHS GP services.
Please be aware that all patient referrals go to the NHS Referral Support Service (RSS). The Clinical Triage Team at the RSS will decide whether they agree with the GP's referral or not and they should contact the patient to let them know the date/time of your appointment. Occasionally this does not happen or the GP referral is rejected and the patient is not informed by RSS. In the first instance if your referral is taking a long time or your need your referral password please contact the RSS team on 01372 232500 or email NWSreferrals@nhs.net
